HMG boxes are found in many eukaryotic proteins involved in chromatin assembly,transcription and replication. TOX may function to regulate T-cell development. TOX is up-regulatedduring the early stages of T-cell differentiation, while down-regulated during later stages of maturationof CD4 and CD8 T-cells.
