Description | Rabbit polyclonal to KDM2A.Lysine-specific demethylase 2A (KDM2A) is a histone demethylase belonging to the JHDM1 histonedemethylase family. KDM2A specifically demethylates 'Lys-36' of histone H3, thereby playing acentral role in histone code. It preferentially demethylates dimethylated H3 'Lys-36' residue while ithas weak or no activity for mono-and tri-methylated H3 'Lys-36'. KDM2A is required to maintain theheterochromatic state. It associates with centromeres and represses transcription of small non-codingRNAs encoded by the clusters of satellite repeats at the centromere. KDM2A is required to sustaincentromeric integrity and genomic stability, particularly during mitosis. |
