CXCR2 is the receptor for interleukin-8, a powerful neutrophilchemotactic factor. Binding of IL-8 to CXCR2 causes activation of neutrophils, and this response ismediated via a G-protein that activates a phosphatidylinositol-calcium second messenger system.CXCR2 binds to IL-8 with high affinity, and it also binds to CXCL3, GRO/MGSA and NAP-2.
