Description

Zinc chloride (Dichlorozinc) , as a Lewis acid, is commonly used as a catalytic promoter in chemical reactions. In biological systems, zinc chloride enhances DNA synthesis capacity and drives the cell cycle to transition smoothly from the G1 phase to the S phase. At elevated concentrations, zinc chloride can induce both apoptosis and necrosis as two forms of cell death, while simultaneously weakening cell migration ability and inhibiting proliferative activity. Furthermore, zinc chloride stimulates the substantial production of reactive oxygen species (ROS), leads to a decrease in mitochondrial membrane potential stability, and subsequently promotes the release of cytochrome c into the cytoplasm, ultimately resulting in a significant reduction in ATP production levels within photoreceptor cells.
