Rabbit polyclonal to SMARCB1.SWI/SNF-related matrix-associated actin-dependent regulator of chromatin subfamily B member 1(SMARCB1) is a nuclear protein and a core component of the BAF (hSWI/SNF) complex. This ATPdependentchromatin-remodeling complex plays important roles in cell proliferation and differentiation,cellular antiviral activities and inhibition of tumor formation. The BAF (hSWI/SNF) complex relievesrepressive chromatin structures, allowing the transcriptional machinery to access its targets moreeffectively. SMARCB1 may also bind to and enhance the DNA joining activity of HIV-1 integrase.SMARCB1 has been implicated as a tumor suppressor, and mutations in it have been associated withmalignant rhabdoid tumors.
