  Due to the highly hydrophobic nature of rhodopsin, avoid boiling samples in SDS-PAGE sample buffer for rhodopsin analysis by Western Blotting, as this will result in extensive aggregation of the rhodopsin protein and appearance of high molecular weight bands.
