It binds directly to the retinoblastoma protein and regulates cell proliferation. Itinteracts preferentially with the underphosphorylated retinoblastoma protein via the E1A-bindingpocket B. RBBP5 is also known to complex with MLL1/MLL, which plays a role in methylation anddimethylation at Lys-4 of histone H3.
