NDRG1 is a cytoplasmic proteininvolved in stress responses, hormone responses, cell growth and differentiation. NDRG1 acts as atumor suppressor in many cell types. It is necessary for p53-mediated caspase activation andapoptosis. Mutation in this gene has been reported to be causative for hereditary motor and sensoryneuropathy-Lom.
