MKRN1supports cell survival by suppressing p53/TP53 under normal conditions, but stimulates apoptosis byrepressing CDKN1A under stress conditions. MKRN1 acts as a negative regulator of telomerase andhas negative and positive effects on RNA polymerase II-dependent transcription.
