Rabbit polyclonal to FPN.Solute carrier family 40 (iron-regulated transporter), member 1 (FPN) is a multi-pass membraneprotein that may play a role in the export of iron from duodenal epithelial cells. It may also be involvedin the transfer of iron between maternal and fetal circulation. FPN mediates iron efflux in thepresence of a ferroxidase (hephaestin and/or ceruloplasmin). Defects in FPN are a cause ofhemochromatosis type 4.
