Folate hydrolase 1 (FOLH1), also known as Prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA), has both folate hydrolase and N-acetylated-alpha-linked-acidic dipeptidase (NAALADase) activity. Has a preference for tri-alpha-glutamate peptides. In the intestine, required for the uptake of folate. In the brain, modulates excitatory neurotransmission through the hydrolysis of the neuropeptide, N-aceylaspartylglutamate (NAAG), thereby releasing glutamate. Involved in prostate tumor progression. Western blot testing of human LNCaP cell lysate with FOLH1 antibody. Predicted molecular weight ~100 kDa.

IHC testing of FFPE human prostate carcinoma with FOLH1 antibody. Required HIER: boil tissue sections in pH9 10mM Tris with 1mM EDTA for 10-20 min and allow to cool before testing.
