E4F1 functions in cell survivaland proliferation through the control of the cell cycle. It functions in the p53 and pRB tumorsuppressor pathways and regulates the cyclin CCNA2 transcription. It is identified as a cellular targetof the adenoviral oncoprotein E1A, and it is required for both transcriptional activation and repressionof viral genes.
