Cyproterone acetate

SKU: orb1309541

Description

Cyproterone acetate is a synthetic steroidal antiandrogen that binds and antagonizes the androgen receptor, inhibiting testosterone-sensitive cell growth. Its progestational activity suppresses pituitary LH secretion, lowering testicular androgen production. It is used in research on prostate cancer, androgen-dependent disorders, and endocrine mechanisms in both in vitro and in vivo models.

Target IC50
Androgen receptor:7.1 nM
In Vivo
Cyproterone acetate inhibited T-stimulated 3XHRE-LUC transcription at low concentrations in the presence of testosterone (10 nM), but not at high concentrations.Cyproterone acetate has both pronounced antagonistic and partial activator properties, and activates the AR at high relative concentrations (EC50 of 4.0 μM). In J774 macrophages
