TFAM activator 1 is a compound that activates mitochondrial transcription factor A (TFAM), possessing anti-inflammatory and mitochondrial dysfunction-repairing effects. TFAM activator 1 can increase TFAM protein levels and mitochondrial DNA copy number, and inhibit mitochondrial DNA stress-mediated inflammatory responses by preventing mitochondrial DNA escape into the cytosol, reducing cytokine production (TNF-α, CXCL-10, and IFN). Additionally, TFAM activator 1 significantly increases ATP levels, reduces fibrosis markers, and enhances Treg 240 function. TFAM activator 1 is suitable for research on mitochondrial dysfunction, such as Parkinson's disease and Alzheimer's disease.
