Background | TAT 2-4 is a cell-penetrating peptide, a dimer of the protein transduction domain (47-58) of HIV-tat protein. The TAT peptide (GRKKRRQRRRPQ) is derived from the transactivator of transcription (TAT) of human immunodeficiency virus and acts as a cell-penetrating peptide. The TAT 2-4 peptide sequence (YGRKKRRQRRRGYGRKKRRQRRRG) represents two back-to-back protein transduction (cell-penetrating) domains of TAT. Transactivator of transcription (TAT) protein is produced by HIV-1 and is involved in the induction of HIV-associated neurologic disorders. |
