Description

SP-6-27 is a microtubule depolymerizing agent that binds to the colchicine site of β-tubulin. It induces G2/M phase cell cycle arrest in ovarian cancer cells and enhances intrinsic apoptosis (apoptosis) by upregulating Bax, Apaf-1, caspase-6, caspase-9, and caspase-3. Additionally, SP-6-27 reduces migration ability of ovarian cancer cells and inhibits the formation of capillary tube structures in human umbilical vein endothelial cells. It exhibits minimal cytotoxicity towards normal ovarian epithelial cells. When combined with Cisplatin, SP-6-27 shows increased cytotoxicity in both chemotherapy-sensitive and -resistant ovarian cancer cells. SP-6-27 is applicable in ovarian cancer research.
