Bioactivity

• In Vivo:
  Pitavastatin inhibit the progression of arterial atherosclerosis by blockin the synthesis of thromboxane and suppressin the migration or proliferation of vascular smooth musclee induced by angiotensin II, thereby stabilizing atherosclerotic plaques. It significantly reduce the levels of intracellular and synthesized cholesteryl esters. Moreover, pitavastatin enhance the extracellular expression of LDL receptors and increase the binding of LDL to LDL receptors. Compared to simvastatin and atorvastatin, pitavastatin is more effective in inducin the expression of LDL receptor mRNA.
