Metaraminol tartrate is an α1-adrenergic receptor agonist,is a potent sympathomimetic amine used in the prevention and treatment of hypotension, particularly as a complication of anesthesia.(In Vitro):Stimulation of α-adrenoceptors by metaraminol, a drug with properties similar to noradrenaline, caused acceleration of cell proliferation in colonie crypts but not in tumors.(In Vivo):Lethal endotoxin shock is prevented in six of the 10 animals studied by the simultaneous use of Metaraminol.
