A potent, selective, orally acitve SGLT2 inhibitor with IC50 of 2.26 nM, 1650-fold selectivity over SGLT1; exhibits a blood glucose lowering effect, excellent urinary glucose excretion properties, and promising PK profiles in vivo; increases urinary glucose excretion in Zucker fatty rats and beagle dogs at doses of 0.3 and 0.03 mg/kg respectively; improves glucose tolerance without stimulating insulin secretion and reduces hyperglycaemia in STZ-induced diabetic rats.Diabetes Approved.
