Linoleyl alcohol, fatty alcohol, is a structural analog of Linoleic acid with no a-carboxyl group.(In Vitro):The dioxygenation of Linoleyl alcohol by potato tuber lipoxygenase leads to formation of two positional isomeric products-9- and 13-hydroperoxyoctadecadien-1-ols.(In Vivo):Esters made from Gallic acid (GA) and (-)-Epigallo-catechin (EGC) or Linoleyl alcohol are more effective in weight-loss promotion and metabolic syndrome management than are intact GA and EGC.
