Docosahexaenoic Acid methyl ester

SKU: orb1307079

Description

This methyl ester derivative of all-cis docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) is a stabilized analog designed for incorporation into membrane phospholipids, resisting metabolic breakdown. It is widely used in lipid metabolism, membrane biophysics, and neurobiology research, facilitating in vitro and in vivo studies on the structural and signaling roles of DHA in cellular membranes.

Bioactivity

In Vitro
Afte the application of methyl docosahexaenoate (DHA-Me) the incidence of sharp waves (SPW) relative to baseline appeared to decrease. in the absence of methyl docosahexaenoate (DHA), when bovine serum albumin (BSA) is exposed to a mixed functional oxidation system of Fe2+ and ascorbic acid (AsA), no new protein and are produced. however, when BSA was incubated with DHA for only 24 hours, high molecular weight protein and were observed the incubation of BSA with 1.0 mM DHA resulted in a substantial increase in protein carbonyl content, whil the addition of oxygen free radical scavenger resulted in a significant decrease in protein carbonyl content.
