γ-Cyhalothrin is an orally active synthetic type II pyrethroid insecticide capable of penetrating the blood-brain barrier. It is the insecticidally active enantiomer of λ-Cyhalothrin. γ-Cyhalothrin disrupts voltage-gated sodium channels, causing reduced spontaneous activity and salivation in rats. It exhibits toxic effects on aquatic invertebrates and fish, affecting aquatic communities, and inhibits host-seeking behaviors of Ixodes scapularis nymphs in residential turfgrass areas. γ-Cyhalothrin is utilized in research related to insect control.
