Choline chloride

SKU: orb1309972

Description

Choline chloride, a key component of lecithin found in biological systems, serves as an acetylcholine precursor and a methyl donor. It is widely used in research on lipid metabolism, neurotransmission, and as a supplement in cell culture and animal studies to investigate metabolic and neurological functions.

Bioactivity

In Vivo
In cell culture, a deficiency of choline can lead to apoptosis, also known as programmed cell death.
In Vitro
After oral administration of Choline chloride, clinical symptoms include restlessness, accelerated respiration, reduced activity, convulsions, wrinkled fur, unsteady gait, and respiratory distress. Choline chloride exhibits low acute oral toxicity. Some animals exhibit diarrhea following ingestion of Choline chloride. In one study, the autopsy revealed pulmonary inflammation in 30% of the rats in the high-dose group.
