Cathepsin G (77 - 83)

This peptide, which represents an antibacterial domain within human neutrophil cathepsin G, was originally isolated from a clostripain digest of this enzyme. The corresponding synthetic peptide has been found to exert broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity in vitro. Another serine protease, granzyme B from human cytotoxic T lymphocytes, contains a similar sequence that also displays such bactericidal action.
