Beta-mangostin is a bioactive xanthone with demonstrated in vitro antimycobacterial activity against M. tuberculosis (MIC 6.25 µg/mL) and antimalarial activity against P. falciparum (IC50 3.00 µg/mL). It is also investigated for its potent anticancer properties in various cell line studies, including hepatocellular carcinoma and leukemia.

Bioactivity

• In Vitro:
  Beta-Mangostin induces the intrinsic apoptosis pathway in HL60 cells by generating reactive oxygen species and suppressing the HSP70 gene, coupled with a G0/G1 cell-cycle arrest.
