Biorbyt’s Apoptosis and Necrosis Assay Kit is a kit that uses a dual-fluorescence staining method with Hoechst 33342 and propidium iodide (PI) to simultaneously detect apoptosis and necrosis. It is suitable for analysis by flow cytometry or fluorescence microscopy.The principle behind this assay is that Hoechst 33342 penetrates the cell membrane; apoptotic cells exhibit strong blue fluorescence due to chromatin condensation, whereas PI cannot penetrate intact cell membranes and enters only necrotic cells that have lost membrane integrity, causing them to exhibit red fluorescence. Through the different combinations of fluorescent signals after dual staining, normal cells (weak blue + weak red), apoptotic cells (strong blue + weak red), and necrotic cells (strong blue + strong red) can be effectively distinguished.Each kit contains cell staining buffer, Hoechst staining solution, and PI staining solution. The procedure is simple, with a one-step staining process taking only 20–30 minutes, requiring no dilution or preparation of other solutions.
