Calpastatin (184-210), an acetylated synthetic peptide derived from human calpastatin, effectively inhibits the calcium-dependent cysteine proteases, calpain I (µ-calpain) and calpain II (m-calpain), which require micromolar and millimolar calcium concentrations, respectively.
