A counterstain for background autofluorescence in fluorescence and immunofluorescence histochemistry, also is the first small molecule prion protein (PrP) ligand capable of inhibiting Aβ binding; inhibits Aβ binding and reduce prion levels was established in cell-based assays; also is a competitive VGLUT inhibitor without affecting plasma membrane transporters, shows antinociceptive effects in vivo; also is an allosteric inhibitor of macrophage migration inhibitory factor (MIF) with IC50 of 0.81 uM.
