Description

Apicidin (OSI 2040) is a fungal metabolite that exhibits potent, broad spectrum antiprotozoal activity in vitro, potently inhibits HDAC with IC50 of 0.7 nM in an enzyme activity assay; induces morphological changes, cell cycle arrest at G1 phase, and accumulation of hyperacetylated histone H4 in Hela cells, changes the expression of p21WAF1/Cip1 and gelsolin; upregulates Foxa2 expression via hyperacetylation of H3 and a decrease in H3K27 trimethylation on the promoter regions.
