Tillmann Ziegert, PhD. CEO & Founder.
Tillmann graduated from the University of Southampton with a PhD in Biochemistry in 2002. He held various commercial and scientific positions in the Biotech industry at Syngenta, PerkinElmer and Abcam. He was part of Abcam, as it grew from 25 people to 250, and private to public holding with his roles culminating as Head of Marketing. Tillmann, with many ideas on how to combine science, ecommerce, logistics and marketing in the Life Science industry founded Biorbyt in 2011. Biorbyt has grown significantly from its inception in his living room and now has four global offices, over 30 staff members and a lab in Wuhan, China. Tillmann is passionate about bringing a flexible and friendly customer service approach to the industry. In his spare time, he pursues his interest in philosophy and history by doing a part-time degree in PPH at Birkbeck.
Qun Yang, FCA, CFA, FRM. COO & Co-Founder.
Qun is the co-founder of Biorbyt Ltd. A qualified chartered accountant (ACA) and a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW). Qun additionally holds qualifications, including Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and Financial Risk Manager (FRM). Graduating with a BSc in Finance and Economics from Shanghai University of Finance and Economics (SUFE), she additionally gained an MPhil in Therapeutic Sciences from Queens’ College, University of Cambridge in 2019.
Having started her professional career as an auditor with Deloitte and later working for Goldman Sachs and Deutsche Bank, Qun brings a wealth of experience in finance and knowledge of China to the team and has been instrumental in setting up the finance and operations functions at Biorbyt.
Having worked in the UK for 2 decades, Qun is passionate in her support of the UK Chinese community, with a particular focus on raising the profile and social impact of women. She established the UK Chinese Women Connect Association and is elected as the first chairwoman. From 2017 to 2018, as an associate at the Cambridge Judge Business School, Qun was appointed as the Executive Director of the Wo+Men’s Leadership Centre. Combining motherhood and entrepreneurship, Qun leads from the front and shows everything is possible.
Sharon Lemaire, ACCA. Financial Controller
Having already graduated with a degree in Fashion Design in South Africa, Sharon moved to the UK to work as a live-in carer. At the age of 26 she took the decision to change careers and pursue a career in Finance. Sharon is a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants. After graduating with a 1st class BA (Hons) in Accounting & Finance in Cambridge, Sharon joined Biorbyt Ltd in 2012 as a finance assistant. In 2014 she moved to Atlantic Healthcare plc to further her experience and career progression before re-joining Biorbyt Ltd in 2016 as Financial Controller. Sharon designed and implemented the financial reporting processes for Biorbyt Ltd and now heads up all financial activities across the group and 3 continents. Sharon is also responsible for HR matters in the UK, heading up recruitment processes as well as managing company Health & Safety.
Martyn Watson, BSc (Hons.). IT & Systems Manager
Martyn graduated from Newcastle University in 2008 with a BSc (hons) in Biology. He joined Biorbyt as the first employee in 2011 as an Operations Assistant - responsible for logistics and customer service. As the company grew, Martyn took on more responsibilities and became Operations Manager in 2013. Martyn’s passion for computing and technology inspired him to learn Python programming in his own time with an aim to further improve the company’s IT systems. In 2017, he became IT Manager for Biorbyt. Since then, he has successfully project-managed several company IT innovations including a complete upgrade of Biorbyt’s website and e-procurement system in 2018 and development from scratch of product inventory, database and order management systems. He is now the IT & Systems Manager for Biorbyt, with responsibilities for website performance, security, and improvements, as well as the automation of product data processing and other internal processes.
Jack Cooper, MRes. Product Manager
Jack graduated from the University of Kent in 2017 with a BSc (hons) in Biochemistry followed by a Masters of Research in Neuroscience at the University of Nottingham in 2019. His research focussed on the role of Nf-kB in neuroinflammation as seen in neurodegenerative diseases, such as Lewy Body Dementia. He joined Biorbyt in 2020 as a Scientific Support Executive and was responsible for technical support and assisting with marketing activities. Jack became Product Manager in 2021, he is responsible for overseeing technical support, distributor relations and marketing strategy, as well as facilitating new product and service development.
