Ibutilide fumarate is a class III antiarrhythmic agent that prolongs cardiac action potential duration by selectively inhibiting the rapid delayed rectifier potassium current (I_Kr). It is widely used in cardiovascular research, including in vitro electrophysiology studies and in vivo models of atrial fibrillation and flutter.
