In Vivo
Epiroprim (300 mg/kg/ day for 14 days, given intraperitoneally) was ineffective against mice acutely infected with the RH strain of Toxoplasma Gondii, but when Epiroprim was combined with oral sulfadiazine (375 mg/kg/ day), a 100% survival rate was seen. Epiroprim (100 mg/kg) combined with dapsone can prevent pneumosporosis and toxoplasmosis in rats.
In Vitro
The 50% inhibitory concentration (IC50) of Epiroprim against Toxoplasma gondii dihydrofolate reductase was 0.9 μmol. Epiroprim has bactericidal effect with a minimum inhibitory activity of 10 mg/L against Mycobacterium leprae.
