  METHODS: To investigate the effect of Collagenase Type II (similar to Collagenase Type I) on the cornea, the corneas of New Zealand white rabbits were treated with Collagenase Type II (200 μL at 5 mg/mL) for 30 minutes. RESULTS: Collagenase Type I increases the curvature and thinning of the cornea and reduces the elastic modulus, thereby simulating the pathological characteristics of Keratoconus (KC).
