Human Equilibrative Nucleoside Transporter 1 (hENT1) mediates the cellular uptake of physiologic nucleosides, adenosines, and many anti-cancer drugs including gemcitabine, cytarabine, and decitabine. Deficiency of hENT1 may lead to drug resistance, while the high levels of hENT1 protein in the plasma membrane is an indicator of the efficiency of the drugs. Anti-hENT1 is designed to detect for the presence of human ENT1.
