Agomelatine (L(+)-Tartaric acid)

SKU: orb1710471

Description

Agomelatine (L(+)-Tartaric acid) is a potent MT1/MT2 receptor agonist and a selective 5-HT2C receptor antagonist. This dual activity makes it a valuable research tool for investigating circadian rhythms, mood disorders, and neuropharmacology in both in vitro and in vivo experimental models.

In Vivo
Agomelatine (L(+)-Tartaric acid) (25, 50, or 75 mg/kg, intraperitoneal injection) exhibits antioxidant activity in strychnine- or pilocarpine-induced seizure models in mice. However, compared with the control group, Agomelatine (L(+)-Tartaric acid) did not demonstrate any antioxidant effects on oxidative stress-related indicators in pentylenetetrazole (PTZ)- or picrotoxin (PTX)-induced seizure models .
In Vitro
In the experimental system where human MT1 receptors (hMT1) and human MT2 receptors (hMT2) are expressed on the cell membranes of CHO cells (or HEK cells), the EC₅₀ values of Agomelatine (L(+)-Tartaric acid) acting on CHO-hMT1 and CHO-hMT2 are 1.6±0.4 nM and 0.10±0.04 nM, respectively.
