| Description | CD270 is a type I transmembrane protein of the TNFR superfamily, which is expressed on resting T cells, monocytes, and immature dendritic cells. Its ligands, CD258 and CD272, differ in effect on CD270 signaling. Whereas binding to CD258 provides a costimulatory signal, binding to CD272 gives to the cell an inhibitory signal. CD270 also is recognized by herpes simplex glycoprotein D. CD258-CD270 interaction and signaling is implicated in macrophage-derived foam cell-mediated development of atherosclerotic lesions. |
