AVS Bio - Recombinant Thrombomodulin-(his-TEV)N, human

SKU: T006

Description

Thrombomodulin is an endothelial-specific type I membrane receptor that plays an essential role in maintaining the hemostatic balance. It binds thrombin, forming the thrombomodulinthrombin complex. In the thrombomodulin-thrombin complex, thrombin loses its ability to convert fibrinogen into fibrin. However, it activates protein C, which degrades clotting factors Va and VIIIa and reduces the amount of thrombin generated. Mutations in the gene of thrombomodulin are a cause of thromboembolic disease, also known as inherited thrombophilia. The mature protein of human thrombomodulin, residues 19 - 516 was over-expressed in HEK293-E cells and purified to homogeneity. The protein has 5 potential N-linked glycosylation sites and 2 potential O-linked glycosylation sites. The protein contains a N-terminal TEV protease cleavable hexahistidine tag. The calculated molecular weight without glycosylation of recombinant human thrombomodulin-(his-TEV)C, residues 19 - 516 including hexahistidine tag, is 54.9 kDa.
