Description | Rabbit polyclonal to NEDD5.Septin-2 (NEDD5) is a filament-forming cytoskeletal GTPase that belongs to the septin family. It isrequired for normal organization of the actin cytoskeleton. NEDD5 plays a role in the biogenesis ofpolarized columnar-shaped epithelium by maintaining polyglutamylated microtubules, thus facilitatingefficient vesicle transport. NEDD5 is required for the progression through mitosis. During anaphase,NEDD5 may be required for chromosome segregation and spindle elongation. NEDD5 plays a role inciliogenesis and collective cell movements. It may also play a role in the internalization of 2intracellular microbial pathogens, Listeria monocytogenes and Shigella flexneri. |
