Description | Mesencephalic astrocyte-derived neurotrophic factor, also known as Protein ARMET, Arginine-rich protein, MANF andARMET, is a secreted protein which belongs to the ARMET family. Recombinant human MANF produced by E. coli is a singlepolypeptide chain containing 183 amino acids (25-182) and having a molecular mass of 20.8kDa. MANF reduces endoplasmicreticulum (ER) stress and has neurotrophic effects on dopaminergic neurons. MANF has been described as a survival factor fordopaminergic neurons. MANF expression was widespread in the nervous system and non-neuronal tissues. Mature humanMANF is 99%, 98% and 96% a.a. identical to mature rat, mouse and bovine MANF respectively |
