Description | Rabbit polyclonal antibody to caspase 3 is also known as apopain whose expression can be detected in the tonsils and skeletal muscles but is highly expressive in the spleen and kidney. It is found in the death-inducing signaling complex in the plasma membrane. This protein is extensively involved in the activation cascade of caspases responsible for apoptosis execution. At the onset of apoptosis, it proteolytically cleaves poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARP) at a '216-Asp-|-Gly-217' bond. It cleaves and activates sterol regulatory element binding proteins (SREBPs) between the basic helix-loop-helix leucine zipper domain and the membrane attachment domain. |
