PTPN6 modulates signaling by tyrosine phosphorylated cell surface receptors such as KITand the EGF receptor/EGFR, and plays a key role in hematopoiesis. The SH2 regions of PTPN6 mayinteract with other cellular components to modulate its own phosphatase activity against interactingsubstrates.
