Syringaldazine

SKU: orb2940983

Description

Syringaldazine (4-hydroxy-3,5-dimethoxybenzaldehyde azine) is a chromogenic substrate specifically designed for the detection and quantitation of laccase and other multicopper oxidase activities. The molecule consists of two syringaldehyde units linked by an azine (-N-N-) bridge, which is cleaved by laccase-catalyzed oxidation, yielding a characteristic purple-to-magenta coloration (ε ~65,000 M⁻¹cm⁻¹ at 525 nm). The high specificity of Syringaldazine for laccase over other oxidoreductases makes it the standard substrate for laccase activity assays in biotechnology and environmental enzymology.
