Phytic acid calcium is the calcium salt of myo-inositol hexakisphosphate (phytic acid), in which calcium ions partially or fully neutralize the six phosphate groups on the inositol ring. The resulting salt exhibits reduced solubility in aqueous media compared to free phytic acid and provides a slow-release source of both inositol phosphate and calcium. This compound is used in mineral chelation studies, food chemistry research on phytate-mineral interactions, and as a precursor for lower-order inositol phosphate preparation.
