Antibody against chloroamphenicol. Chloramphenicol is a broad-spectrum antibiotic that inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit, preventing peptide bond formation. Although its clinical use is now limited due to potential toxicity—particularly bone marrow suppression—it remains a valuable tool in microbiological research and molecular biology as a selection agent in bacterial expression systems.
