Description | Rabbit polyclonal antibody to APOB. APOB, also named as Apo B48 and Apo B100, is a major protein constituent of chylomicrons (apo B48), LDL (apo B100) and VLDL (apo B100). APOB functions as a recognition signal for the cellular binding and internalization of LDL particles by the apoB/E receptor. Defects in APOB are a cause of familial hypobetalipoproteinemia (FHBL). Defects in APOB are a cause of familial liganddefective apolipoprotein B100 (FDB). Defects in APOB associated with defects in other genes (polygenic) can contribute to hypocholesterolemia. The antibody is specific to APOB. |
