• Source: Alpha-1 antichymotrypsin is a protease inhibitor with a molecular weight of 68.000. Its concentration in fetal human serum is low at birth, but the concentration increases rapidly to normal plasma levels of about is 4.5 μg/ml. Alpha-1 antichymotrypsin is regulated like a an acute phase reactant. It has been isolated as a homogenous protein for use in the antiserum production. Freund’s complete adjuvant is used in the first step of the immunization procedure.
