Cells and Lysates

Cell lysates are prepared by lysing a cell population. Lysates of cell lines containing overexpressed proteins are used as a positive control to study antibody reactivity in western blots and ELISA, and organelles, nucleic acids and cellular proteins can also be isolated from cell lysates. Cell lysates are commonly used to study proteins and to identify potential targets for drug development.
