Secondary Antibodies
Secondary antibodies bind to primary antibodies, which are directly bound to target antigen(s). They are used to detect and amplify the signal produced by a primary antibody, and are usually conjugated to an enzyme or a fluorescent dye, which generates a signal indicating the presence of the primary antibody in the sample. Secondary antibodies are used in many biochemical assays including ELISA, Western blot, immunostaining, immunohistochemistry and immunocytochemistry.
